In this article, I would like to present the example of application to show you the reason why we should use the portable filesystem directory as our practice for portablizing using JPE. This method is to fool native application think it is running in the normal filesystem. JauntePE calls them as portable filesystem. IMO, the best directory to create portable application that can suit all the conventional application is to have a complete virtual filesystem directory. But there is a concern that not all apps will works using the directory structure above. JauntePE has the capability with its flexible configuration settings to follow the popular standard above. This format is acceptable by many portable application fans and has been around for quite a time. The benefit behind this format is to ease them for the future upgrade of portable application. Data folder will contain the application’s settings and/or backup settings. App folder contains the application’s executable & other files. Example of the structure might be one folder called App and another called Data. One of the idea is to separate files between application files and the data files. has pioneered the portable application and they have developed their own standard format and specification. Creating portable application has been popular lately.
